Ghostbusters reboot given new title post-release
Ghostbusters was a succinct but not very Google-friendly name for a reboot, leading to a ton of “Ghostbusters 2016”, “Ghostbusters reboot” and “new Ghostbusters” searches.
Perhaps fearing people will confuse it with the original in shops and online stores (or perhaps to distance it from the 1984 classic), the film is getting a new name for its US DVD and Blu-Ray release: Ghostbusters: Answer the Call.
The tagline, which presumably is a nod to the ‘Who you gonna call?’ catchphrase did appear in the credits and on a couple of posters, but wasn’t really used in the run up to theatrical release.
The movie turned out to be highly contentious and put director Paul Feig off reboots for life.
Asked if he would consider resurrecting another classic recently, he said: “No, no, no. No, I will not.”
“This one was just too tempting because I knew we could do something with it that was exciting.”
