Warner Bros boss condemns ‘reprehensible’ and ‘unacceptable’ behaviour of some Snyder Cut fans
Studio executives were reportedly sent death threats for standing in the way of the remake’s release
Warner Media’s CEO has criticised the “reprehensible” behaviour shown by some fans of Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
The four-hour remake of 2017’s Justice League was released last week following a lengthy fan-led campaign calling for Zack Snyder to release his original vision for the movie.
Snyder stepped away from directorial duties midway through production due to personal reasons with Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s Joss Whedon taking the reins.
The long-running online campaign to #ReleaseTheSnyderCut ran into controversy after it was reported that film critics and some Warner Bros executives had received death threats for expressing disinterest in Snyder’s version of Justice League or standing in the way of its production.
WarnerMedia’s CEO Ann Sarnoff condemned the actions of those fans during a recent interview with Variety.

“We’re not tolerating any of that,” she said. “That behaviour is reprehensible no matter what franchise you’re talking about or what business you’re talking about. It’s completely unacceptable.”
Sarnoff added that she is “very disappointed” in the fans who chose “to go to that negative place with regard to DC, with regard to some of our executives”.
“We want DC [Comics] to be a fandom that feels safe and inclusive. We want people to be able to speak up for the things they love, but we don’t want it to be a culture of cancelling things that any small faction isn’t happy with,” she said.
“We are not about that. We are about positivity and celebration.”
Despite the controversy, Zack Snyder’s Justice League was eventually produced. Since its release last week, the film has received mostly positive reviews from fans and critics.
