Food is so often intertwined with our stories and memorable experiences that, for many of us, it's difficult to think of memories where it doesn't appear.

That’s why for 2019’s Nespresso Talents contest, aspiring filmmakers can submit vertical format (9:16) films, maximum three minutes in length, on the theme of ‘We are what we eat’. The unique competition, now in its fourth year, showcases extraordinary talent from around the globe and pushes the boundaries of traditional filmmaking.

By offering a new storytelling perspective – the vertical format – the Nespresso Talents platform gives rising talent a springboard from which they can explore new ideas. “Nespresso seeks out people who think differently, who are prepared to go further and demonstrate creativity in what they do,” says the brand’s CCO. “For this reason, we are proud to support film events, with a focus on young talent and innovation.”

The launch of the contest coincided with this year’s BAFTA event, with whom Nespresso has partnered for the last three years, hosting the BAFTA Nespresso Nominees’ party in Kensington Palace earlier this month, attended by celebrities such as Regina King.

The competition is open for entries until 25 March, 2019*. A select jury, including chef Daniel Clifford, will choose the three best short films, which will be available to view at Nespresso.com/talents.

The three finalists will receive funds for their film career and the winner will enjoy an exclusive trip to the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, where their winning submissions will be announced. The winner will also receive mentoring sessions in Cannes with the lauded Semaine de la Critique.
