Artist Grimes has said she has caught Covid-19, telling fans she is “weirdly enjoying the Dayquil fever dream 2021”.

The 32-year-old musician, who has a baby son with billionaire Elon Musk, shared the update via her Instagram Stories over the weekend.

“Finally got Covid but weirdly enjoying the Dayquil fever dream 2021,” she wrote.

Grimes, real name Claire Boucher, has been with Musk since 2018. Their son, X Æ A-Xii, was born in May 2020.

Grimes did not disclose whether Musk or her son had also tested positive for coronavirus.

Her latest album, Miss Anthropocene, was released to critical acclaim last year.

The Independent’s five-star review said the album “operates much like a greatest hits record”.

“There’s brilliance here, but it’s when the album slows down that it becomes transcendent,” critic Adam White wrote.

“‘So Heavy I Fell Through the Earth’ is a perfect storm of the slinky and the tortured, Grimes urging a lover to ‘weigh me down’. ‘You’ll Miss Me When I’m Not Around’ is a gloomy synth-pop ballad that brings to mind Til Tuesday and Bauhaus.”

The LP went on to be listed among The Independent’s best albums of 2020 list, at No 15. See the full list here.
