Elvis and Priscilla Presley’s only child died at a Los Angeles hospital after suffering a medical emergency at home, the family said
Tributes are pouring in after Lisa Marie Presley, the only child of Elvis Presley, died at the age of 54.
The musician died at a Los Angeles hospital after suffering a medical emergency at home, just two days after she attended the Golden Globes.
In a statement, the Presley family said: “Priscilla Presley and the Presley family are shocked and devastated by the tragic death of their beloved Lisa Marie.
“They are profoundly grateful for the support, love and prayers of everyone, and ask for privacy during this very difficult time.”
Presley was transported from her home in Calabasas, California, to hospital after paramedics performed CPR on her following a possible cardiac arrest, TMZ first reported.
Following in the footsteps of her father, Presley pursued a career in the music industry.
She released three albums: To Whom It May Concern (2003), Now What (2005), and Storm & Grace (2012).
In 2018, her new record Where No One Stands Alone featured 14 original performances recorded by Elvis including a reimagined duet, in which she sang alongside her father – who died at the age of 42 in 1977.

Elvis Presley’s former fiancée Ginger Alden pays tribute to Lisa Marie
Another of Elvis’s former partners has paid tribute to his daughter.
Alden, the King’s former fiancée and final companion who found him dead in his bathroom in 1977, remembered how special she was to her father.
“It’s not always easy knowing all/what to say in moments sometimes but here goes,” she wrote on Facebook. “As many of us share with extreme saddened hearts today the passing of Elvis’s daughter, I wanted to reflect.
“My time with Lisa Marie was unique for me and special. I grew to care deeply for her and felt the same from her.”
Presley would have been around eight or nine years old when Alden and her father got engaged in 1976.
“We didn’t have years together but it was quality time spent for sure when she visited Elvis and me at Graceland as a young child in 77 and was able to join us on some tours and visit with me at my family home,” Alden said.
“We went to Libertyland, rode rides, something we all loved to do. I understood her feelings and appreciated notes she wrote to me.”
“I remember Lisa coming into Elvis’s bedroom one evening, sitting on his bed and as she stared at the television, he tapped me silently behind her,” she wrote. “‘She has the same look in her eyes as me,’ he said. That look is not far away from her father’s now.”
Alden concluded: “I truly wish we could have spoken later in life as I am sure she had many questions. May you rest in peace Lisa. You were loved and will be deeply missed.”
Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, pays tribute
Sarah Ferguson was among the throngs of people passing on their condolences to Lisa Marie Presley.
Per the Daily Mail, Fergie and Presley are believed to have met in 2009, and Presley attended the Duchess of York’s 50th birthday party in London that same year.
“I say hello to you everyday and I love you my sissy and I will continue to say hello to you everyday,” Ferguson wrote on Instagram. “You were my sissy, an amazing mother to Ben, Riley, Harper and Finley and a superbly loving daughter to Priscilla. You have been my devoted friend for many years and I am here for your family to support and love them.”
She added: “I am deeply saddened my sissy, you are in my heart.”

Presley died amid a prominent discourse surrounding “nepo babies” – a slang term for the children of famous or well-connected parents.
However, in an op-ed for The Independent, Ed Power writes that Presley’s life story “challenges the idea that the children of the rich and famous have won a figurative lottery”.
For some, Power argues, a “gilded cage can be a pressure cooker”.
“This is especially the case when their parent is iconic rather than merely famous – a figurehead rather than a celebrity,” he writes. “Nothing the child achieves can ever equal their accomplishments.”
