Taylor Swift drops previously unheard song ‘You All Over Me’ ahead of release of rerecorded Fearless album

Track was originally written when Swift was a teenager and will feature on her album Fearless (Taylor’s Version)

Taylor Swift has released a previously unheard song titled “You All Over Me”.

The singer dropped the track on Friday (26 March), which was originally written around the time of her 2008 album Fearless when Swift was between 16 and 18.

“You All Over Me” features vocals from country singer Maren Morris, was co-written with Scooter Carusoe and was produced by The National’s Aaron Dessner, the latter of whom Swift worked with on her 2020 albums Folklore and Evermore.

On the track, Swift sings about heartbreak, with the chorus’s lyrics reading: “Lost tears, swore that I’d get out of here / But no amount of freedom gets you clean / I still got you all over me.”

It is the first of six Fearless-era songs that have never been heard before, which will feature on the re-recorded version of her second studio album. Fearless (Taylor’s Version) comes out on 9 April.

Announcing “You All Over Me”’s release on Wednesday (24 March), Swift wrote: “One thing I’ve been loving about these ‘From The Vault’ songs is that they’ve never been heard, so I can experiment, play, and even include some of my favourite artists.”

Swift has re-recorded all the tracks from Fearless for the album’s release, with a new version of “Love Story” put out in February.

The release is the first part of a project announced by Swift in 2019, which will see her re-recording her earlier songs after her catalogue was acquired by music executive Scooter Braun.

Earlier this month, Swift won the Album of the Year award at the 2021 Grammy Awards for Folklore.
