Lewis Hamilton's career profile

Lewis Hamilton missed out on the world championship on Sunday evening as Kimi Raikkonen spoiled the party to clinch his first victory since March 2013.

Hamilton knew that a victory would have almost certainly secured him a fifth title, but Raikkonen gave him something to think about immediately as he took the lead into the first corner. However, Hamilton was still on for the championship as Sebastian Vettel spun on the opening lap, having made contact with Daniel Ricciardo.

But as Vettel fought back, Hamilton switched to a two-stop strategy that, ultimately, just fell short in getting him in to the second place that he needed as Max Verstappen came through the field to take second place with a phenomenal drive from 18th place on the grid.

The results means that while Hamilton is not yet the 2018 world champion, Vettel must win all three of the remaining races this season to stand any chance of stopping the Mercedes driver, who only needs seventh place in Mexico next time out to secure his victory.

Re-live all the action below.

Lap 14: And just like that, Bottas moves aside and Hamilton moves back into second, 5.7s behind Raikkonen. Right now, this race is Mercedes' to lose.

Lap 17: Hamilton is on the charge here on the new soft tyres - which are the hardest compound here this weekend - and he's only two seconds behind the leader now. However, Pirelli say that the softs will last around 35 laps, and he's looking to stretch them a whopping 44 here.

Lap 21: Hamilton is all over the back of Raikkonen and fancies a crack at the lead here.

Lap 21: Raikkonen runs wide as he gets onto the back straight, and that gives Hamilton a run into the hairpin. Kimi goes defensive to cover the inside, and Hamilton tries to overtake on the outside into the next corner. Raikkonen shuts the door, maintains the lead and at the end of the lap comes in to pit.

Lap 22: This race is coming to life as Raikkonen has cost Hamilton eight seconds there by holding him up. He's now back on the pace, but Verstappen has pitted from third having caught the leaders as they squabbled.

Lap 24: Bottas pits from second! It looks like a response to try and cover Verstappen...and it hasn't worked! Verstappen beats the Merc out of the pits and he's moved up to third on net position - having started 18th!
