So. Much. Cheese.

Morrisons has launched a Yorkshire pudding pizza, combining your Saturday dinner and Sunday lunch staples in one hybrid dish.

Just in time for Yorkshire Pudding Day on Saturday 3 February, the concoction is sure to delight Brits and have Italians choking on their arancini.

The cheese and batter hybrid combines a crispy Yorkshire pudding base – made in Doncaster in South Yorkshire – with a filling of tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese.

There are two flavours on offer: one classic pepperoni and another meat feast, topped with mini meatballs, pepperoni, spicy beef and jalapeno chillies). Sadly there are no veggie options as of yet.

But just because pizza is great and Yorkshire pudding are also great, does that necessarily mean combining the two will work?

Some will argue you shouldn’t mess with a classic pizza base (we’ve all learned the error of our ways after trying cauliflower base pizza), whereas others may maintain that taking two delicious foods and mashing them up together makes for an even more sensational taste experience.

The £3 Yorkshire Pudding pizzas have been launched in 491 Morrisons stores and will be on offer until 20 February.

Jenny Dixon, Yorkshire Pudding Expert (yes, apparently that is a job) at Morrisons, said: “Everyone loves Yorkshire Pudding and everyone loves Pizza, so we are combining the two to create the ultimate comfort food for Yorkshire Pudding Day. The crust is made the same way as a typical Yorkshire Pudding and is topped the same way as one of our pizzas. We’re looking forward to hearing what customers think but we hope that they’ll love it!”

Morrisons isn’t the first to merge these two foods though – last year, Rebels’ Smokehouse, a diner and takeaway spot in Beverley, East Yorkshire, made waves when they created their own Yorkshire pudding pizza.

But now those of us who aren’t Yorkshire-based can get our hands on what may be the best food hybrid of 2018 too.
