Facebook is finally going to stop thrusting Candy Crush invites onto all of its users, after boss Mark Zuckerberg promised he would find a “solution” to one of the most annoying things about the platform.

The site has been gradually getting rid of some of the more spammy parts of the service, stopping people sending endless annoying notifications. But some of them are still around — including the seemingly ever-present Candy Crush invitation.

And one particularly annoyed user took Mr Zuckerberg to task ahead of a town hall meeting in India, posting on the site to ask him to stop the invites.

"I don't want any more invitations to Candy Crush,” a user asked. “How can I stop it?"

The question — which actually asked Zuckerberg to delete the game from the platform entirely — quickly proved popular and ended up with over 7,500 likes. That pushed it to the top of the comment threat ahead of the event.

"This is where these Town Hall Q&As are really useful because I actually saw this question, that it was the top voted question on my thread," Zuckerberg said.

"So I sent a message to the person who runs the team in charge of our developer platform and I said by the time I do this Town Hall Q&A, I think it would be good if we had a solution to this problem."
