Mila Kunis felt like a ‘horrible mom’ for wanting ‘vacation’ from her kids during lockdown

Mila Kunis has joked that she is a “horrible mom” after revealing that she and husband Ashton Kutcher signed on to do a Super Bowl commercial so they could have a vacation from their children.

The actress made the confession during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show Tuesday, where she revealed that she and Kutcher received the offer to do the Cheetos advertisement a few months ago, at which point she was “dying to get out of the house” and away from the couple’s two children, Wyatt, six, and Dimitri, four.

“It was in the peak of the pandemic, it made no sense logically, it may have been the worst time to do it,” Kunis said. “We were so quarantined, and I was dying to get out of the house."

“I was literally like: ‘I don’t care, I need to get out of this house.’ I looked at it as a two-day vacation. I was like: ‘We’re getting out. We’re going to go shoot the thing and we’re going to get away from our children.’”

“And I got two days off from my kids,” the 37-year-old joked, adding while laughing. “I’m a horrible mom.”

During the interview, the Bad Moms star also humorously compared her children to dogs, telling DeGeneres that her son and daughter have a way of seeking her out in quarantine.

“I love my kids very much, we both do, but they're like dogs: they can sniff you out!" she said. “They know your smell, they know what room you're hiding in - you can't get away from them. You just can't. They're just there.”

While the actress and Kutcher did get their mini vacation, Kunis said the process of filming the Super Bowl commercial, which featured her, Kutcher and Shaggy, was “really uncomfortable”.

“We showed up, it’s really uncomfortable because you’re not wearing a mask, you feel really vulnerable, you also feel like a lemming, no one’s allowed to talk, you don’t know what anyone looks like,” Kunis recalled of the “bizarre circumstance”.

Kunis’ relatable comments about parenting amid the pandemic come after she previously revealed that the family has “done every craft humanly possible”.
