Oxford Street's 2015 Christmas lights will be lit on 1 November.

A total of 445 gold baubles and silver lights will decorate the busy shopping street and for the first time the street will be closed to cars for the turning on ceremony.

It’s not yet announced which celebrity will be hosting the 56th switch-on ceremony. Last year saw X Factor judge Cheryl Fernandez-Versini hit the button.

Shoppers will be able to watch the ceremony, hosted by Capital FM and jewellery brand Pandora, via big screens up and down the street.

Managing Director at New West End Company Steven Medway said: “As the most anticipated Christmas event of the year we encourage families and shoppers to get into the Christmas spirit and enjoy both the tranquil traffic-free Sunday followed by the spectacular lights switch-on moment.”
