The ‘handsome felon’ Jeremy Meeks, whose mugshot caught the attention of women, modelling agencies and porn production companies around the world, has been sentenced to over two years in a federal prison.
Meeks' face was thrust into the spotlight when his mugshot was posted on the Stockton Police Department Facebook page in June and shared by thousands of swooning admirers.
The 30-year-old was arrested on charges of illegal gun possession and for gang crime, having reportedly once been involved with the notorious Northside Gangster Crips.
After his mugshot went viral Meeks was offered a $30,000 modelling contract and $100,000 to become a porn star. Unfortunately, he will not be able to pursue either opportunity in the foreseeable future after a judge sentenced him to 27 months in a prison in California for being in possession of a .45 caliber pistol on Thursday morning.
Meeks was also ordered to participate in the 500-hour Bureau of Prisons Substance Abuse Treatment Program, CBS News reports.
He is married, with a son, and his family say he has spent the last six years trying to live a quiet life after spending years in and out of prison.
