Trump claims he has 'protective glow' and is 'immune' from Covid

Donald Trump has told Fox News that he is now ‘immune’ from Covid after his recovery — despite multiple recorded cases around the world of re-infection.

Twitter has flagged a tweet from the president claiming his immunity and that he cannot infect other people. The tech giant has said the tweet violates its terms of service with regard to users posting misinformation about coronavirus.

Meanwhile Dr Fauci has hit out after a clip of him was used in a Trump campaign commercial without his permission.

Donald Trump and Speaker Nancy Pelosi butted heads from afar again on Sunday over the stalemate in negotiations for a coronavirus relief package.

The White House has offered a package that is “wholly insufficient” for testing, treatment, and contact tracing, the speaker said.

Mr Trump, however, said Ms Pelosi remains the main obstacle.

“Republicans want to do it — we’re having a hard time with Nancy Pelosi,” the president said in an interview with Fox News on Sunday.

That’s not accurate. Several Senate Republicans have balked at proposals even from the White House on Covid-19 relief.

Donald Trump has placed blame on Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden and former President Barack Obama for civil unrest that broke out in Baltimore, St Louis, and elsewhere after instances of alleged police brutality during the Obama administration.

Mr Trump has presided over the country during a summer of racial justice protests after the deaths or shootings in police custody of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Breonna Taylor in Louisville, and others.

Donald Trump hit his Democratic opponent, Joe Biden, on Twitter for continuing to dodge questions about adding more justices to the Supreme Court to dilute a conservative majority, a manoeuvre known as court-packing.

Democrats have accused Republicans of “stealing” a Supreme Court seat by blocking Barack Obama’s nomination in 2016, Merrick Garland, seven months before that year’s election.

ABC News/The Washington Post released a poll on Sunday showing Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden trouncing Donald Trump in the national popular vote by 12 percentage points.

In a head-to-head matchup, the Democrat had 55 per cent support from those surveyed, compared to Mr Trump’s 43 per cent.

That decisive edge remained at 12 points when Libertarian Jo Jorgensen and Green Party candidate Howie Hawkins were included.
