Follow live coverage as Arsenal face Fulham today in the Premier League. Another top-flight season will be covered in full right here with The Independent, as reigning champions Manchester City look to make it an unprecedented five titles in a row come the end of 2024/25.
The likes of Arsenal and Liverpool will be chasing Pep Guardiola's side, but just as fascinating will be the race for Champions League places, with more teams than ever before having designs on top-four finishes. Chelsea remain big-spending, Manchester United's latest rebuild continues and both Tottenham and Newcastle will expect improvements this year - yet it was Aston Villa who snared fourth last term.
Meanwhile, it's Southampton, Leicester City and Ipswich Town who made it back to the elite after promotion last year and each will have hope they can make it more than a one-year stay. Follow the latest live action from the Premier League below:
Arsenal vs Fulham
Other than a late scare, Arsenal can be satisfied with an evening that ticks a lot of boxes they needed ticking. A 2-1 win puts them within nine points of Liverpool heading into tomorrow's Merseyside derby – and should the Reds slip up, there may still be life in the title race yet. Arteta will also be delighted to have Saka back and on the scoresheet, the winger scoring within seven minutes of his return off the bench after a three-month lay-off. The not so good news is an injury to Gabriel, which looked serious enough to potentially see the defender out for some time. Still, a night when the Gunners won 2.31-0.81 on xG and 17-9 on shots is a good one, particularly with Merino scoring his fifth goal since converting to a centre-forward. Fulham rarely threatened until the late stages, Muniz missing a sitter and then eventually pulling a goal back in added time, but it was not enough. They host Liverpool on Sunday as they aim to keep their European hopes on track, while Arsenal go to Everton on Saturday lunchtime. Thanks for following!

Sessegnon races away down the right and is adamant he should have been awarded a corner after a tussle with Kiwior, but the assistant referee sees it differently.
