Arsenal took a big step forwards in the race for the Premier League title as they hammered Sheffield United at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Mikel Arteta will be over the moon with his team’s display as Eddie Nketiah proved his worth as the main forward once more by scoring a hat-trick to secure the points before Fabio Vieira and Takehiro Tomiyasu put the icing of the cake for the Gunners with goals from the bench.

Nketiah completed his first Premier League hat-trick to extend Arsenal’s unbeaten start to the season, scoring his first with a deft touch and finish, before thumping his second effort into the roof of the net.

A superb strike from 25 yards secured the hat-trick before Vieira netted a late penalty and Tomiyasu got on the end of a flick from Mohamed Elneny.

Nketiah's hat-trick helps Arsenal cruise to a 5-0 victory over Sheffield United. The visitors actually frustrated the Gunners for the first 25 minutes or so, but Nketiah got his first goal with a smart finish over the keeper. He wrapped up the game within 15 minutes of the second half starting, latching onto Foderingham's poor clearance to rifle in his second before earning the match ball with a wonderful strike from the edge of the D. Vieira won a late penalty which he then coolly converted before Tomiyasu finished off the scoring in stoppage time with a fine finish following a corner. That win moves Arsenal up into second place, now just two points behind Spurs. Next up for them is a trip to West Ham in the EFL Cup in midweek. The Blades are now the only team in the Premier League without a win to their name as they stay bottom. They host Wolves next weekend. That's all for today, goodbye!

CHANCE! Nelson flicks it past One and manages to pick out Zinchenko, who cushions it into Havertz. He takes the shot first time, looking to catch Foderingham out at his near post, but he hits the side netting.

Arsenal are happy to just keep the ball now as they wait for the end of the game. There are only a couple of minutes left, and that last goal knocked any fightback out of the visitors.

There is a quick VAR check on the goal to make sure there wasn't a handball by an Arsenal player on its way into the net. The check comes up clean, and the goal stands!

After a good spell of possession, Souza sloppily gifts the ball to Havertz, who instantly looks to Nketiah. He drives into the box, but the Brazilian recovers well to prevent a shot.

United are making a late show here as Souza slides it through Tomiyasu's legs before winning a corner off Saliba. The resulting set-piece is too close to Raya though, and the keeper plucks it out of the air.

We're into the first of 10 added minutes here, and the Blades are mounting a rare attack. Arsenal are staying compact, and though Norwood manages to slide a throughball into Souza, he can't get past Kiwior.
