Meanwhile Luton Town are making their first appearance in the Premier League, having risen from non-league in an incredible decade of progress. They followed Championship winners Burnley and second-placed Sheffield United in earning promotion to the top flight.

Arsenal go close to scoring again. Odegaard rolls a throughball to Saka, who is beaten to the ball by Neto. The rebound drops to Zinchenko, who sees his effort deflect over.

Bournemouth struggled to create any meaningful chances before the break and are not moving through the pitch quickly enough. Their short passing style has not been effective enough, with Arsenal stopping them from breaking through their structure. As for Arsenal, they have been outstanding. Rice and Ødegaard have displayed their quality in possession, with Saka giving Kerkez a lot of problems on the right.

Arsenal are in complete control of the game after goals from Saka and Odegaard before half-time. The away side dominated possession and broke the deadlock through Saka. Odegaard's inswinging cross from the left was met by Jesus, who crashed the post from a tight angle. The rebound dropped to Saka in the middle of the box, who headed in from close range. The Gunners pushed for a second and found it from the spot. Nketiah was fouled inside the box by Aarons, with Odegaard rolling his penalty into the bottom corner. Billing broke free of Arsenal's defence before having a shot blocked and Solanke headed over.

Bournemouth play the ball out of the back, with a pass down the left flicked into the path of Kerkez by Solanke. However, he cannot keep the attack alive.

Solanke has had a quiet game and makes a mess of a header from a corner, sending it well over the bar after a defender misses it ahead of him.

Cook curls a corner into the box from the left. However, it is away from everyone in the middle, with Jesus heading it away. Bournemouth get it back and Billing takes a shot from inside the box, but Gabriel slides across to block it.
