Focus on Bournemouth not Bilbao, Bournemouth good side - Amorim

Rasmus Hojlund scored a stoppage-time equaliser to earn Manchester United a late point in their Premier League match against Bournemouth on Sunday.

The Cherries started off well on the south coast and limited United to very little before pouncing on a defensive mistake to score first, with Antoine Semenyo rifling in an accomplished finish to give them the lead at the break.

United toiled for much of the match and the Cherries came within inches of extending their lead as Dango Ouattara’s free-kick rattled the woodwork, before United were offered a lifeline as Evanilson was given a controversial red card after a VAR review.

United went up a gear after the sending off, with Mason Mount and Bruno Fernandes going close, before the late pressure paid off for the visitors as Hojlund bundled in after Luke Shaw’s cross to rescue a point – and some pride – for United ahead of their Europa League semi-final.

Peter Schmeichel backs ‘very talented’ Rasmus Hojlund to succeed at Man Utd

Peter Schmeichel is convinced Rasmus Hojlund has the talent and mental toughness to come through his challenging spell at Manchester United.

The Red Devils went for potential over a proven asset when signing the highly-rated Denmark striker from Atalanta in July 2023 in a £64million deal that could reach £72million with add-ons.

Hojlund showed promising flashes during his first season but has stuttered this term, with the 22-year-old scoring just once in his last 28 club appearances in all competitions.

Ruben Amorim has ‘no regrets’ about Man Utd move but admits questioning timing

Ruben Amorim says he has “no regrets at all” about joining Manchester United – but admits a problem period four months ago had him questioning whether he should have pushed harder to delay his arrival.

Erik ten Hag’s successor has endured a difficult time since taking charge in November, with the Red Devils entering the weekend 14th in the standings having managed just six Premier League wins under the Portuguese.

The Europa League is keeping United’s worst-ever Premier League season alive, with Amorim leading the side into Thursday’s semi-final first leg at Athletic Bilbao on the back of Sunday’s trip to Bournemouth.

Manchester United suffer injury blow with key defender set to miss rest of season

Ruben Amorim has revealed Manchester United full-back Diogo Dalot has suffered a potentially-season ending calf injury.

The 26-year-old has made 51 appearances for the Red Devils this season in all competitions, missing just one match through suspension.

Dalot came off the bench in Sunday’s 1-0 loss against Wolves as Amorim looked to manage his minutes with the crucial Europa League semi-final against Athletic Bilbao looming large.
