Follow live coverage as Brentford face Manchester United today in the Premier League. Another top-flight season will be covered in full right here with The Independent, as reigning champions Manchester City look to make it an unprecedented five titles in a row come the end of 2024/25.

The likes of Arsenal and Liverpool will be chasing Pep Guardiola's side, but just as fascinating will be the race for Champions League places, with more teams than ever before having designs on top-four finishes. Chelsea remain big-spending, Manchester United's latest rebuild continues and both Tottenham and Newcastle will expect improvements this year - yet it was Aston Villa who snared fourth last term.

Meanwhile, it's Southampton, Leicester City and Ipswich Town who made it back to the elite after promotion last year and each will have hope they can make it more than a one-year stay. Follow the latest live action from the Premier League below:

The half-time whistle blows at the Gtech Community Stadium as Brentford head into the break with a 2-1 lead over Manchester United. The Bees started the game with urgency and almost scored in the opening few minutes after Luke Shaw almost scored an own-goal before Kevin Schade fired over Altay Bayindir's crossbar. However, the away side took the lead after a low pass from Alejandro Garnacho on the left flank was met by Mason Mount in the penalty area. Shortly afterwards, the Bees equalised after Shaw put the ball into his own net after getting a heavy touch on Mikkel Damsgaard's shot. The Bees did not rest on their laurels and found a second after an exquisite cross from Christian Norgaard on the right flank was met by Schade's powerful header. To make matters worse for Ruben Amorim, Matthijs de Ligt went off injured after colliding with Yoane Wissa and was replaced with Harry Maguire. The Opta predictor currently has Thomas Frank's side as overwhelming favourites to take the three points here with a 76% chance.

CHANCE FOR UNITED! Mount makes a driving run towards the Brentford goal on the right flank before firing a low cross towards the penalty area, but Garnacho is unable to convert! That was the perfect chance to equalise!

WHAT A SAVE! THAT COULD HAVE BEEN 3-1! From the resulting free-kick, Damsgaard delivers a cross from the right-hand side which is headed towards goal by Norgaard, but Bayindir saves with his chest! I do not think the Turkey international knew much about that save!

SAVE! Brentford are looking for a third here! Lewis-Potter plays a delightful long ball towards Schade on the right flank before the German international heads into the penalty area before firing a fierce effort with his right foot, however Bayindir parries the shot away!
