Dorgu makes an excellent intervention to win the ball for United and move up the pitch but throws away all his hard work by surrendering possession back to Chelsea with a careless flick. Palmer wins a corner as his cross is deflected.

WHAT A MISS! Unbelievable! It's good again from Madueke as he comes inside and lays it off for Palmer to strike, with Onana parrying it into the path of Fernandez but he blazes over from three yards out! Fortunately for him, the goal wouldn't have counted as he was in an offside position.

There was a stoppage in play but it looks like James is going to carry on, at least until the end of the half. In the meantime, Chelsea go on the attack but Palmer loses the ball after a heavy touch.

James is down and looks hurt after falling awkwardly after an aerial challenge with Dorgu. The injury-prone Englishman looks in some distress as he's tended to by the medical staff.

Chelsea are ending this half the stronger of the two but a lofted pass from Caicedo just has too much weight on it to reach Madueke in the area. The Ecuadorian had done brilliantly to press high and nick the ball off Fernandes in the build-up.

Hojlund is once again offering nothing as a focal point for the home side. There's some neat possession in parts but very little in attacking threat. No shots as we approach 40 minutes of this match.

Fernandes does well to spin away from Fernandez and win a free-kick. It's taken quickly but Chelsea get back into their shape and force United back. There was no need for the visitors to take a short free-kick in that instance.

Madueke is causing Mazraoui all sorts of problems down this left side and beats him for pace once more before fizzing a cross in which Casemiro does well to deflect away for a corner. United get rid of the danger but it's all Chelsea now as we enter the last 10 minutes of the first half.
