Chelsea vs Wolverhampton Wanderers
The full-time whistle sounds at Stamford Bridge, with three second-half goals securing three all-important points for Chelsea in a 3-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers! A goalless first half had been dominated by the Blues, and they upped the ante in the second to open the scoring just six minutes after the restart when Gusto popped up to head home his first career goal, from Garnacho's incisive cross. That opened the floodgates for the hosts, and after half-chances for Delap and Fernandez, Estevao set Joao Pedro up for a simple finish into the roof of the net. Chelsea had their third eight minutes later when Garnacho teed up Pedro Neto to tap home with the simplest of finishes against his former club, rounding off the scoring and sealing the points in the process. Chelsea managed 3.38 xG with further openings for Joao Pedro and Guiu, as Wolves produced just 0.17 xG at the other end with late efforts from Munetsi and Strand Larsen, both of which were blazed wide. As a result, the visitors remain rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table, and already risk being cut adrift with an eight-point gap between themselves and safety. Meanwhile, a dominant Chelsea victory springboards Enzo Maresca's side from eighth to second in the table after 11 games, as the Blues cut the gap on leaders Arsenal to a far-from-unassailable six points!
