Follow live coverage as Crystal Palace face Brighton & Hove Albion today in the Premier League. Another top-flight season will be covered in full right here with The Independent, as reigning champions Manchester City look to make it an unprecedented five titles in a row come the end of 2024/25.

The likes of Arsenal and Liverpool will be chasing Pep Guardiola's side, but just as fascinating will be the race for Champions League places, with more teams than ever before having designs on top-four finishes. Chelsea remain big-spending, Manchester United's latest rebuild continues and both Tottenham and Newcastle will expect improvements this year - yet it was Aston Villa who snared fourth last term.

Meanwhile, it's Southampton, Leicester City and Ipswich Town who made it back to the elite after promotion last year and each will have hope they can make it more than a one-year stay. Follow the latest live action from the Premier League below:

Crystal Palace vs Brighton & Hove Albion

Wow, wow, WOW! Palace are over the line in one of the most entertaining games this season. They have won 2-1 here at Selhurst Park to complete the league double over their fierce rivals, and what a way to do it! Mateta opened the scoring within the first three minutes, and he did it in incredible fashion. It was a sweet ball through from Eze to his striker, before Mateta turned slightly and smashed a left-footed shot over Verbruggen to make it 1-0. Brighton responded well to the goal, and in the 31st minute they equalised, after a long period of pressure. Minteh curled a delicate cross into the middle of the box, before Welbeck stuck a leg out and guided his shot into the bottom-left corner. We were all square again going into the second half, and that’s when the real fun started! Munoz put Palace back ahead, just 10 minutes after the game started up again, and Palace looked to be in a good position. He received the ball from Eze on the right side of the box before slamming his shot off the back of Estupinan, which helped the effort evade Verbruggen down to his right. Then the game took a real turn, Nketiah was sent off just 10 minutes after coming on as a sub. He got two yellows for simulation and a bad foul, meaning Palace were down to 10. Lacroix then went down for a long time with a concussion, right before the end of the 90, meaning 12 minutes of added time were given, leaving Palace worried for their fate. It got even worse for them moments after, as Guehi was also shown a red card for two yellows, similarly to Nketiah earlier on. Palace were hanging on by a thread, with only nine men to defend their lead. It was made slightly easier for them when the last twist in the tale came through van Hecke. He was also shown a second yellow card for a last-man foul on Kamada, meaning he was the third red card of the game. Henderson made a fantastic stop at the death to win all three points for Palace most immensely. Palace walk away with the win and the bragging rights over their rivals until next season. They created 0.61 xG throughout the game, whereas Brighton made 0.94 xG, but they couldn’t make it count. Thank you for joining this live text commentary. I’m off for a lie down. Goodbye!
