Liverpool lift Champions League trophy after beating Spurs in Madrid

Welcome to our live coverage of the 2019 Champions League final between Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool.

Mohamed Salah gave Liverpool the perfect start when he hammered home a second minute penalty after Moussa Sissoko was adjudged to have handballed the ball in the area. A streaker interrupted proceedings before Divock Origi sealed the win late on with a smart finish.

Alexander-Arnold: We learned a lot from Real Madrid defeat

Trent Alexander-Arnold will start his second consecutive Champions League final tonight just a bit over making his debut two years ago. Oh, and he' not even 21 yet.

He believes last year's defeat against Real Madrid in the final means that they are in a good position to beat Tottenham tonight.

“Last season, the experience has helped us,” he said on Friday. “This season, I think we learned a lot from the game. It’d be daft to forget what happened last season and start afresh.

“We've used things throughout the season that we learned against Real Madrid in Kiev, the way they won the game and the way they went about things, how they beat us.

“We've matured as a team, we've shown how we can win games, how we can hold onto 1-0 leads, we keep clean sheets better."

"We are both from England so we are used to cooler temperatures"

Liverpool's Andy Robertson has been talking about the sweltering weather in Madrid. Temperatures will rise to the dizzy heights of 31 Celsius in Spain ahead of tonight's Champions League final.

Pochettino makes Spurs players face their fears ahead of facing Liverpool

"There was an activity when the players were handed a long thin arrow with a sharp point. They had to put the point up against their throat and walk into a wall. Trusting that their neck would be strong enough to snap arrow, and that they would not suffer a dangerous injury instead."

Alderweireld: We're training like animals

Toby Alderweireld says that Tottenham are training "like animals", not that he is specifying which animal he thinks they are.

“It would be a new creature, I think,” he says eventually, which if anything is an even more alarming prospect. “It’s a metaphor,” he adds. “The hunger is there.”

Hoddle: Kane will be on the bench

Former Tottenham player and manager Glenn Hoddle met Harry Kane earlier in the week and believes he will start on the bench.

"He was very relaxed. For me I think he will be on the bench," Hoddle said on BT Sport. "I have that gut feeling and he's happy to be involved because three week ago he's thinking 'we're out'".

"It is their (Spurs) first final they have to be nice and calm, calmer than I am, you have to be here for a reason.

"We thought both of these team were out. And there were two footballing miracles. There's not been a cl like it for so many years. It shows the grit and the determination of the English teams."

However...
