Paul Pogba will miss the second leg of Manchester United’s Champions League tie against Paris Saint-Germain after being shown a red card in the closing stages of their encounter at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.

With the clock ticking down, Pogba scraped his studs down the side of Dani Alves’ leg and was shown a second yellow card, having picked up the first in the 23rd minute when he clattered Marco Veratti.

United lost the game 2-0 after second-half goals by Presnel Kimpembe and Kylian Mbappe took the game away from the hosts, delivering the first defeat of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s reign.

United will now need a remarkable result – without the in-form Pogba – in Paris on 6 March to turn the tie around and reach the quarter-finals.
