Roma have sacked Eusebio Di Francesco following the Champions League defeat by Porto.

The Italian guided the Giallorossi to the semi-finals last season, but has since struggled to rediscover that level both in Europe and in Serie A, where they are three points separating them from the top four.

A statement read: “AS Roma announces that from today Eusebio Di Francesco is no longer the technical manager of the Club.

“The Company thanks the coach for his work on the Giallorossi bench and wishes him the best for the future.”

President James Pallotta has also thanked Di Francesco for his contribution to the club.

“For my part and for the whole of AS Roma, I would like to thank Eusebio for their efforts,” said Pallotta.

“He has always worked with a professional attitude and has placed the interests of the Club above all personal ones. We wish him the best for his career.”

Roma have been linked with bringing Claudio Ranieri back to the Olimpico.

Their next game is Empoli at home on Monday night.
