Tuchel on Everton trip and Lampard: 'He will always be a legend at our club'

Everton moved two points away from Premier League safety as Richarlison’s goal earned Frank Lampard a priceless victory against former side Chelsea at a raucous Goodison Park.

Burnley’s victory over Watford yesterday left the Toffees five points adrift in the relegation zone but Everton responded in style in front of their own fans to boost their relegation hopes, as Leeds were dragged into the fight.

Everton made life difficult for Chelsea in a heated first half that saw five yellow cards but few goalscoring chances. Richarlison then punished Cesar Azpilicueta as the Chelsea captain was caught in possession, before finishing beyond Edouard Mendy.

Vitaliy Mykolenko wasted a golden chance to double Everton’s lead, before Jordan Pickford made a series of stunning saves to rescue Everton at the other end. The England goalkeeper somehow kept the ball out as he scrambled across his goalline to reach Antonio Rudiger’s shot from close range.

It saved Everton, who missed the chance to seal the win as Demarai Gray wasted an opportunity on the breakaway. Lampard needed to wait through seven minutes of additional time but the Toffees held on to claim a vital victory to boost their survival hopes.

Relive the drama of Everton vs Chelsea below, ahead of Arsenal’s visit to West Ham:

West Ham 1-2 Arsenal

88 mins: Can West Ham muster anything before the full-time whistle? They have offered next to nothing since the break.

86 mins: Fornals skips beyond a couple of challenges and makes his way into the Arsenal penalty area but Gabriel is across to hammer the ball away.

A modicum of pressure being put on the Arsenal back line now.

West Ham 1-2 Arsenal

85 mins: Arsenal running the clock down here. It’s so, so easy for them to knock the ball around unchallenged.

A reminder that a win here would take Arsenal back up to fourth. A victory for West Ham would take them back into the top six above Manchester United. I can tell you right now - that will not happen.

West Ham 1-2 Arsenal

83 mins: Yarmolenko’s first contribution? Needlessly caught offside.

This second half performance from West Ham will not only frustrate their own fans but also Tottenham supporters. It’s been a real ‘foot off the gas’ 45 minutes from David Moyes’ side.

West Ham 1-2 Arsenal

82 mins: SUB! Final West Ham change of the afternoon as Said Benrahma makes way for Andriy Yarmolenko.

West Ham need some sort of impetus because they have looked half-asleep since Arsenal’s second goal.

West Ham 1-2 Arsenal

80 mins: Nketiah latches onto a loose pass from Coufal and sends the West Ham defence scrambling back. He drifts past Zouma and uses Cresswell as a shield as he guides one towards the bottom corner but Fabianski is equal to it.

Could have had a hatful today, Nketiah.

West Ham 1-2 Arsenal

78 mins: SUB! Cedric Soares comes on for the hobbling Takehiro Tomiyasu. Disappointing for the full-back who has spent so much time out with calf issues. Looks to be the same issue as before.

77 mins: After a period of Arsenal possession, Takehiro Tomiyasu kicks the ball out to receive treatment. Worrying for the visitors.
