This year sees Manchester City try to defend their crown and claim a historic fourth title in succession. Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering City, who also won the Champions League and FA Cup last season, will have to see off Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and the rest to claim an unprecedented sixth league title in seven years.
Meanwhile Luton Town are making their first appearance in the Premier League, having risen from non-league in an incredible decade of progress. They followed Championship winners Burnley and second-placed Sheffield United in earning promotion to the top flight.

Archer attempts to bring the ball down in Everton's half, with his loose touch sending him down the left. He wins a battle with Coleman, working his way to the outskirts of the box before curling a right-footed effort wide of the right post.

SAVE! Calvert-Lewin has time and space on the edge of the Blades' box in a central position and attempts to drive a low effort into the bottom-right corner, but Foderingham gets down to make a good save.

McNeil's looping cross from the left is cleared away, with Brereton-Diaz racing forward on the counter looking to put Everton's defence under pressure. He races past the halfway line and looks to try and go past Branthwaite, but he is unaware that Young is behind him. The defender makes a great run to get a foot on the ball.

Archer wins possession off Branthwaite down the left, with the defender slipping. It looks like the Blades man has forced a rare mistake from the defender, but Branthwaite recovers brilliantly to make a strong tackle.

Onana is on the floor after after Archer accidentally puts a hand in his face looking to protect the ball. The play stops when the ball goes out of play so the referee can check on the midfielder, but he quickly returns to his feet. There was very little contact.

Everton usually play with a direct style and have long periods without much possession, but have had 58 per cent of the ball so far. The Blades haven’t had a shot, with Archer and Brereton-Diaz struggling to get into the game.

Gueye plays a short pass into McNeil before the winger looks to return possession to the Senegal international. However, a Blades defender gets ahead of him just inside the box to make a crucial interception. The visitors then look to start a counter, but Brereton-Diaz is tackled by Branthwaite, who is forced to concede a throw-in.
