Fulham vs Man City LIVE: Premier League result and reaction as Foden and Gvardiol help City to big win
Fulham 0-4 Manchester City: Josko Gvardiol’s double sees Pep Guardiola’s side hold serve against Arsenal in the Premier League title race
Manchester City hit the top of the Premier League with one week of the season left as two goals by Josko Gvardiol and one each from Phil Foden and Julian Alvarez sealed an emphatic 4-0 victory at Fulham fc.
City’s stroll in the London sunshine, their seventh successive league win and 16th consecutive victory over Fulham in all competitions, moved them two points clear of Arsenal.
Pep Guardiola’s relentless side, closing in on an unprecedented fourth English title in a row, have 85 points from 36 games, with Arsenal on 83 having also played 36.
Arsenal can regain top spot by beating Manchester United on Sunday but City, who play their game in hand at Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday, are two wins away from making history.
Relive all the action from Craven Cottage below:
Fulham 0-1 Manchester City
30 mins: City aren’t being troubled at all here really, though they’re not creating their usual chances. Gvardiol wins a corner from Castagne.
Fulham 0-1 Manchester City
28 mins: City win it back within about three seconds, this time with Pereira at fault. Foden unleashes a shot from outside the box, but Leno catches it.
Fulham 0-1 Manchester City
27 mins: Fulham are giving it away far too easily now as they attempt to play out from the back. That same tactic has undone Brighton and Wolves in recent weeks against City.
Fulham 0-1 Manchester City
25 mins: Lovely again from Gvardiol, who makes a great overlapping run before squaring it to De Bruyne. It ends up at the feet of Silva, who attempts to curl a shot in but Leno saves easily.
Fulham 0-1 Manchester City
24 mins: Muniz just fails to control an inviting diagonal ball into the box, and Ederson collects.
Fulham 0-1 Manchester City
22 mins: Ake does come off for Kyle Walker. Pep Guardiola gives an impromptu team talk on the sidelines – he doesn’t look too happy.
Walker will presumably come on as right-back, swapping with Akanji. That side had given Fulham some joy with Akanji coming in as an inverted full-back.
Fulham 0-1 Manchester City
21 mins: Seconds after getting up, Foden does brilliantly to win the ball off Alex Iwobi as the last man as Fulham countered.
Ake is moving gingerly, and Walker is warming up on the sideline for City.
Fulham 0-1 Manchester City
20 mins: There were 19 passes leading up to the City goal, with nine of their 11 touching the ball. Pep Guardiola’s dream goal probably.
Foden is down briefly after being blocked by De Cordova-Reid.
Fulham 0-1 Manchester City
18 mins: Some lovely play triangles from Fulham allow Robinson to break free down the left, but his attempted ball in is intercepted. Promising signs though.
Fulham 0-1 Manchester City
15 mins: Some confusion in the Fulham defence almost allows City a chance.
The ball is bouncing towards Leno and Bassey, under pressure from Haaland, plays a difficult lobbed pass back to Leno, who gives it back to the centre-back. Bassey then tries to head it out, and De Bruyne gets to it on the byeline, but Haaland can’t get clean contact with the cross in.
