Manchester United forward Jesse Lingard could lad a serious pay day if he makes his England debut tonight against France after a clause in his contract with the club stands to land him a one-off £50,000 payment.

Lingard has only played 193 minutes of Premier League football since making hi United debut this season, but England manager Roy Hodgson has seen it fit to call up the 22-year-old to replace the injured Jamie Vardy.

Lingard is not likely to start tonight’s match, but he could well feature of the bench and should he win his first England cap, United will have to pay out the sizeable fee to the youngster in a one-off fee.

Warrington-born Lingard made his mark for United in their last outing against West Brom as he scored the opening goal in a 2-0 victory, and he also managed to get his name on the scoreboard during England’s Under-21 European Championship campaign during the summer.

United manager Louis van Gaal urged Hodgson not to call up Lingard too soon in order to let him develop away from the media limelight, but the Three Lions head coach felt he had little option after both Vardy and Carrick joined England’s extensive injury list.

Fabian Delph has also withdrawn from the England squad, with Tottenham’s Ryan Mason called up to add cover to his Spurs team-mates Dele Alli and Eric Dier, but Hodgson has expressed his concern at the number of unavailable players he has for the fixture which has stretched to an alarming 17 players.

Tuesday’s match will be an emotional one due to status it has taken on following the terrorist attacks in Paris last week that left at least 129 people dead.

The French team found themselves targeted by suicide bombers when they attacked the Stade de France during a match between France and Germany, but despite fears that tonight’s match would be cancelled as a result, the French Football Federation has insisted that the game went ahead to take a stand against terrorism across the world and defy those responsible for Friday’s attacks.
