Follow live coverage as Ipswich Town face Brentford today in the Premier League. Another top-flight season will be covered in full right here with The Independent, as reigning champions Manchester City look to make it an unprecedented five titles in a row come the end of 2024/25.

The likes of Arsenal and Liverpool will be chasing Pep Guardiola's side, but just as fascinating will be the race for Champions League places, with more teams than ever before having designs on top-four finishes. Chelsea remain big-spending, Manchester United's latest rebuild continues and both Tottenham and Newcastle will expect improvements this year - yet it was Aston Villa who snared fourth last term.

Meanwhile, it's Southampton, Leicester City and Ipswich Town who made it back to the elite after promotion last year and each will have hope they can make it more than a one-year stay. Follow the latest live action from the Premier League below:

Ipswich Town vs Brentford

Brentford escape late pressure from Ipswich to take all three points in a competitive Premier League match at Portman Road. Ipswich came close in the first five minutes to taking the lead through top scorer Delap; however his header was saved comfortably by Flekken. Brentford took the lead in the 18th minute. An in-swinging corner from Mbeumo found Schade at the near post, whose header looped over Palmer in net and into the far corner to make it 1-0. Damsgaard came close to doubling the lead just before half-time, however his effort slowly rolled past the post and wide. Ipswich’s best chance of the game came in added time. A fantastic cross from deep from Hutchinson found a queue of Ipswich players. Burgess’ first-time volley was fantastically saved by the foot of Flekken to win Brentford the match. Ipswich’s late barrage of pressure led to them finish the game with 0.75xG, including Burgess’ chance that equated to 0.31xG. Brentford perhaps deserved all three points according to the stats, as they had 1.21xG across the 90 minutes. Ipswich travel to relegated Leicester next time out, whilst Brentford face a huge game for a European push at home to Fulham.
