Leicester City vs Newcastle United
The full-time whistle blows at the King Power Stadium as Newcastle United strengthen their Champions League aspirations with a 3-0 win over Leicester City in the Premier League. The Magpies are on a four-game winning streak in all competitions and look very hard to beat. The visitors opened the scoring through a Jacob Murphy tap in, after good work from Tino Livramento. Shortly afterwards, Murphy grabbed his second goal of the game after emphatically finishing off a rebound shot from Fabian Schar’s audacious effort from halfway. The Toon Army showed no mercy as they made it 3-0 through former Leicester forward Harvey Barnes who tapped home into an empty net. The Foxes’ pushed hard in the second half, however the game was already done. Eddie Howe’s side dominated throughout, and this was highlighted through a superior xG of 3.26. On the other hand, Ruud van Nistelrooy’s outfit struggled in the final third and this was reflected through an xG of 0.47. The Geordies move up to fifth place in the Premier League table, having played a game less than their closest rivals. Meanwhile, the hosts remain languishing in 19th place with relegation all but confirmed. Thanks for reading!
