Leicester City vs Southampton
The full-time whistle blows to a chorus of cheers as Leicester City defeat Southampton 2-0 at the King Power Stadium. The Foxes opened the scoring in the first-half through Jamie Vardy's first-time finish past the hapless Aaron Ramsdale, after a good ball from Bilal El Khannouss on the left flank. The former England international has now scored 199 goals for the Foxes and will be hoping to reach the 200 mark before he departs the home outfit in the summer. Shortly afterwards, referee David Webb was replaced by Sam Barrott after receiving an elbow to the head from Jordan Ayew. The Ghana international rifled in a rebound for Leicester's second goal after seeing his initial free-kick blocked by the Southampton defence. The lively El Khannouss had chances to grab a third goal for Ruud van Nistelrooy's men in the second half, but for some poor finishing. The Saints did not apply any real pressure to the Leicester goal until Paul Onuachu saw his 93rd minute header smash into the side netting. The result does not do anything for both teams as their relegation from the Premier League had already been confirmed. However, for the home side, the scoreline means they finally end their nine-game barren run of not scoring at home in the league. For the Saints, defeat means they will finish the Premier League in 20th place. Leicester's ruthless finishing was reflected through an xG of 1.27, whereas Simon Rusk's men lacked the cutting edge in the final third, which was highlighted through an xG of 0.53.
