Follow live coverage as Leicester City face Southampton today in the Premier League. Another top-flight season will be covered in full right here with The Independent, as reigning champions Manchester City look to make it an unprecedented five titles in a row come the end of 2024/25.

The likes of Arsenal and Liverpool will be chasing Pep Guardiola's side, but just as fascinating will be the race for Champions League places, with more teams than ever before having designs on top-four finishes. Chelsea remain big-spending, Manchester United's latest rebuild continues and both Tottenham and Newcastle will expect improvements this year - yet it was Aston Villa who snared fourth last term.

Meanwhile, it's Southampton, Leicester City and Ipswich Town who made it back to the elite after promotion last year and each will have hope they can make it more than a one-year stay. Follow the latest live action from the Premier League below:

The half-time whistle blows at the King Power Stadium as Leicester City head into the break with a 2-0 lead against Southampton. After a lively start, the Foxes' found the net through Jamie Vardy. The lively Bilal El Khannouss found acres of space on the left flank before delivering a cross into the path of Vardy, who rifled in a first-time effort past the hapless Aaron Ramsdale. Soon after, there was a break in play after referee David Webb went down after receiving an elbow to the head from Jordan Ayew. Webb was unable to return to the pitch and Sam Barratt replaced him as the referee. The home side bombared the Saints' goal and were eventually rewarded after Ayew 's low stinging effort beat Ramsdale at his near post. The away side have been poor and have been unable to create chances after Harwood-Bellis saw his tame header saved by Jakub Stolarczyk. The Opta predictor has Ruud van Nistelrooy's side as overwhelming favourites to take the three points from here with a 86% chance.
