Premier League match preview: Chelsea v Leicester

Chelsea's wait for a first victory under Frank Lampard continues after the Blues were held to a 1-1 draw by Leicester City.

The home side made a flying start to the match as Lampard's faith in young midfielder Mason Mount was rewarded in an early goal - his first for the club - as he pounced on an unaware Wilfried Ndidi to snatch possession and tuck the ball past Kasper Schmeichel.

But Leicester steadied the ship after the dominant first half for Chelsea, and midway through the second half Ndidi made amends by heading home James Maddison's corner. Leicester had late chances to snatch the victory, but were unable to find the goal to claim all three points.

The result gives Lampard his first point as Chelsea manager, but leaves them winless in their first three games. Re-live the action below.

Chelsea 1 - 1 Leicester

81 mins: Perez finishes his afternoon as Marc Albrighton comes on for Leicester. Perez strolls to the halfway line to leave the pitch even though he was miles away. Surely he should have gone off at the nearest point under the new rules?

The Chelsea fans certainly think so as they give him a ton of jeers as he leaves the pitch.

84 mins: Kante is shoved to the ground and wins a free kick for Chelsea. Mason Mount takes it and goes for goal only to boot it way over the bar.

87 mins: Kante tries to switch the ball with a pass out to Willian on the left. Willian heads it down to Mount, who passes to Abraham, who lays it up for Mount... whose shot is deflected out for a corner. The corner comes in but is headed away.

90+4 mins: Abraham has a chance to win it for Chelsea, it's a half-chance and he smashes it way wide.

Maddison puts the ball into the back of the net after a period of pressure from Leicester but he's ruled offside.

With the last throw of the dice Kepa boots it long but Kovacic loses possession. The whistle goes and both teams take a point.

Chelsea 1 - 1 Leicester

A tale of two halves in this match. Chelsea dominated the first 45 minutes, took the early lead courtesy of Mason Mount but then were forced to hold on as Leicester came out firing from the break.

All in all a point each is probably a fair result. What we've learned so far about Lampard's Chelsea team is that they start incredibly well but deteriorate over time and allow teams to get back into the game.
