From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Tottenham Hotspur are hosting Dinamo Zagreb tonight as Jose Mourinho’s side look to take another step toward European glory. Inconsistency has blighted Spurs’ campaign, both domestically and in the group stage of their Europa League campaign, but more recently they have found a positive groove with key attackers finding form. Gareth Bale, Dele Alli and Harry Kane have all been impressive at times recently, giving the boss options to rotate his team.
Dinamo have yet to lose a game in the Europa League this season and finished top of the group ahead of Wolfsberger – who Spurs knocked out in the last round. This last-16 clash will see Tottenham start as favourites, but they know they’ll have to be near their best to continue their progression through this competition, with the ultimate aim of winning the trophy and securing a spot in next season’s Champions League.

SECOND LEG
Worth noting that the second leg in Croatia is played next week, 18 March. No two- or three-week turnaround in ties for the Europa League! But first, that north London derby.
Perhaps one minor concern for Spurs - PA are reporting that Harry Kane took a knock to the knee before coming off and was icing it on the bench. With Arsenal to come at the weekend, Spurs will hope there’s nothing to stop their top scorer being in action.
FULL TIME
Tottenham 2-0 Dinamo
A Kane brace seals the day for Spurs, meaning a fifth straight victory in all competitions. Just one goal conceded in that run, too.
90+2’ - Spurs 2-0 Dinamo
Spurs seeing out the game in comfort now, even if not actively seeking a third goal. Will two be enough to head to Croatia with? Mourinho and Co. will hope so.
89’ - Spurs 2-0 Dinamo
Into the final stages now. Sissoko takes an arm to the face but he’s fine to continue. Bale’s corner is punched clear and we head into four added minutes.
DIN sub: Franjic on for Ademi
86’ - Spurs 2-0 Dinamo
Hojbjerg is booked after coming on as sub and he’ll miss the second leg. Presumably Spurs not too concerned about that.
Bergwijn leads the counter, he tees up Bale but the Welshman can’t get a shot away and several defenders crowd him out.
82’ - Spurs 2-0 Dinamo
Gareth Bale hammers a free-kick on target - it’s from miles out and the goalkeeper has to punch it awkwardly over the bar.
TOT sub: Kane replaced by Carlos Vinicius
