Zidane and Pochettino evasive over Gareth Bale transfer latest

Relive Wednesday's transfer news as Tottenham tried to close in on signing Argentina and Juventus forward Paulo Dybala for a fee believed to be around £62m.

Elsewhere the former Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho could be set to join Manchester United from Barcelona, with Arsenal said to be uninterested in the Brazilian, while the Gunners have had a £55m bid for French defender Dayot Upamecano rejected by RB Leipzig.

And Paris Saint-Germain are rumoured to have offered up Neymar to Real Madrid, Juventus and United. Follow the latest below:

Watford have rejected a bid from Everton for Abdoulaye Doucoure, believed to be around £37m.

Meanwhile, Manchester clubs United and City are both eyeing Norway midfielder Hakon Evjen.

A big Christian Eriksen transfer update from Chief Football Writer Miguel Delaney - the player is prepared to wait for a Real Madrid move and as such a move to Manchester United is looking unlikely:

Further news from Crystal Palace, where Victor Camarasa may not be the only midfielder on their way...

Everton's James McCarthy is also expected to be added in the next 24 hours or so, with a fee in the region of £8.5 million negotiated between the two Premier League clubs.

Not strictly a transfer story but hardly tangential, Gareth Bale has once again been left out of a Real Madrid squad.

Zinedine Zidane's side take on RB Leipzig tomorrow and have included neither the Welshman nor James Rodriguez in a 20-man squad for the fixture, with both potentially departing the club before the window closes.

These are exciting times for West Ham supporters with a strong attacking unit showing signs of gelling in preseason, but Manuel Pellegrini is not done with adding to his attacking options.

The departures of Andy Carroll, Marko Arnautovic, Jordan Hugill and Lucas Perez have left the Irons a little thin up front despite the addition of Sebastien Haller, and the club have identified exciting Basel forward Albian Ajeti as a target in the last few days.

An £8 million deal is likely to go through before the close of the window. West Ham confirmed their fifth summer signing, 18-year-old centre back Goncalo Cardosa, last night.

The Guardian report that Crystal Palace have rejected a £70 million pound bid from Everton for Wilfried Zaha in a deal that would also have seen James McCarthy and Cenk Tosun move to Selhurst Park, the former permanently and the latter on loan.

They go on to state that Crystal Palace are demanding £100 million for the player, which Everton are unwilling to meet. This has supposedly angered Zaha, with any deal between the two clubs now unlikely.
