Latest football transfer rumours

Follow the latest transfer news and rumours live from the second week of the summer window as Premier League clubs look to strengthen their squads, with European football also set to resume this week. Arsenal are looking at numerous midfield options as they aim to ensure further trophies after last weekend’s FA Cup final win, with Willian, Philippe Coutinho and Thomas Partey all on Mikel Arteta’s radar.

Meanwhile, Manchester United‘s saga with Jadon Sancho looks set to wrap up any day now, with a five-year deal on the table for the youngster as Alexis Sanchez’s time as a United player seemingly nears its end.

Elsewhere, Chelsea coach Frank Lampard could be preparing a mass overhaul of his defence, with as many as five players from his backline up for sale. Such a move would free up funds for an offer for Leicester’s Ben Chilwell, whom the Blues will likely have to make the most expensive defender in the world if they are to secure him. In what sounds like a very ill-advised splurge and so very West Ham, the Hammers want to bring Barcelona's Martin Braithwaite to east London, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Danish international Braithwaite, who is expected to cost €20m, scored one goal in 11 appearances for Barcelona last season, and has never quite found his scoring boots since a decent period for Toulouse in Ligue 1 between 2015 and 2017.

Lille have signed the former Manchester United midfielder Angel Gomes on a five-year deal, reports French journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi

Gomes left Old Trafford after deciding to pursue first-team football elsewhere, having grown frustrated at the lack of opportunities.

The 19-year-old will be loaned to Boavista for the 2020-21 season. The Portuguese club is a feeder operation for Ligue 1's Lille.

Lille finished third last season but are finding their squad ravaged by bigger clubs chasing their impressive stars.
