Man City vs Liverpool LIVE: Premier League result and reaction as Trent Alexander-Arnold nets late equaliser
Man City 1-1 Liverpool: Jurgen Klopp’s men remain one point behind the champions after salvaging a draw at the Etihad Stadium
Trent Alexander-Arnold’s low finish ten minutes from time earned Liverpool a point against Manchester City as the Premier League‘s top two played out a 1-1 draw.
A relatively even contest never quite burst into life at the Etihad Stadium as two familiar foes kept each other largey in check.
Erling Haaland had put Manchester City into a first half lead, latching on to a through ball from Nathan Ake after an errant clearance from Alisson before firing into the bottom corner past the Brazilian goalkeeper.
It was the Norwegian’s 50th Premier League goal, the striker achieving the mark in his 48th game to comfortably break Andy Cole’s record.
And Haaland very nearly added a second a matter of moments before Alexander-Arnold equalised up the other end, Alisson’s block crucial and sparking the counter attack from which the right back neatly tucked home.
The draw ends a 23-match winning run at home for Manchester City, who could be overhauled at the top of the table if Arsenal beat Brentford later on Saturday.

A flashpoint after the full time whistle, Darwin Nunez and Pep Guardiola having to be separated. Manchester City and Liverpool couldn’t be, though - honours even at the Etihad Stadium.
Guardiola is embracing Jurgen Klopp soon enough. The German will be more pleased, of course, having ended Manchester City’s long home winning run - but neither will be too worried about a point apiece from a game that never quite burst into full colour.

Two foot wide! So nearly for Manchester City, Erling Haaland driving to the near post and beating Wataru Endo in the air. A skip off the deck and just past the post with nobody in sight to tap it home!

What are you doing, Alisson?! Two horrific clearances gift Manchester City possession, and the Brazilian goalkeeper is very fortunate that neither is capitalised upon.
He’s in bother, now, though - his hamstring has gone and Liverpool are out of substitutions! The goalkeeper can barely move but will have to survive a corner at least...

The time is ticking away for Manchester City and their chase for a winner, though. All of Erling Haaland, Bernardo Silva and Jeremy Doku are in a finishing position as Phil Foden crossed, but none of them the correct one to connect with a slightly shallow ball.

Wataru Endo is the next player carded for a clip of Jeremy Doku’s heels.

Ordinarily, you’d expect Pep Guardiola to have injected fresh legs by this stage, but there’s not much on his bench that will excite the Spaniard in an attacking sense. Still those gesticulating arms of his are busy, though, Guardiola conducting his players as a nearby Jurgen Klopp shoots him a curious look.
