Manchester United vs West Ham United
The full-time whistle blows at Old Trafford to a chorus of boos as Manchester United succumb to a 2-0 defeat against West Ham. The result means the home side drop to 16th in the Premier League table. For the visitors, they move above United into 15th place with 40 points. After a positive start by the Red Devils, it was the Hammers who took the lead through a Tomas Soucek flick. It was great work from Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Mohammed Kudus in the United penalty area before the latter fired in a low cross towards the path of Soucek. The Hammers extended their lead after former United defender Wan-Bissaka assisted captain Jarrod Bowen to calmly slot past Altay Bayindir. The home side had numerous chances to halve the deficit, but for some bad finishing and excellent goalkeeping. Alphonse Areola denied Rasmus Hojlund in the 79th minute with a magnificant close-range save. In what has been a poor league season for the Red Devils, they will turn their attention to the UEFA Europa League final where they will face Tottenham on 21st May 2025. For the Hammers, they record a league double over United for the first time since 2006-07. Ruben Amorim's men created a number of chances but lacked the cutting edge and this was reflected through an xG of 2.28. On the other hand, Graham Potter's side were able to finish their chances and this was highlighted through an xG of 1.56. Thank you for reading and take care!
