Follow live coverage as Newcastle United face Everton today in the Premier League. Another top-flight season will be covered in full right here with The Independent, as reigning champions Manchester City look to make it an unprecedented five titles in a row come the end of 2024/25.

The likes of Arsenal and Liverpool will be chasing Pep Guardiola's side, but just as fascinating will be the race for Champions League places, with more teams than ever before having designs on top-four finishes. Chelsea remain big-spending, Manchester United's latest rebuild continues and both Tottenham and Newcastle will expect improvements this year - yet it was Aston Villa who snared fourth last term.

Meanwhile, it's Southampton, Leicester City and Ipswich Town who made it back to the elite after promotion last year and each will have hope they can make it more than a one-year stay. Follow the latest live action from the Premier League below:

Newcastle United vs Everton

Newcastle United host Everton in the North East today, as the Premier League’s 2024-25 campaign comes to its conclusion. Champions League qualification is still up in the air for the Magpies, but the permutations remain simple for Eddie Howe's men. Win, and UCL football will be theirs, but any slip-ups against the Toffees will give the teams around them an advantage. Newcastle are one of five teams that still have the chance to qualify for Europe’s elite competition on the final day, with Manchester City big favourites to make it. Today’s hosts, Chelsea, and Aston Villa, are all level on 66 points. It’s still all to play for as far down as seventh, where Nottingham Forest have one point less. All teams will be vying for dropped points. Newcastle haven’t made it easy for themselves this afternoon, as a narrow 1-0 defeat at Arsenal last weekend means the hosts will be sweating over their final league position. On the contrary, 13th-placed Everton come into this one off the back of a routine 2-0 success over Southampton and look set to cruise to the finish after their emotional Goodison goodbye last weekend.
