Arsenal injury news: Tomas Rosicky's setback overshadows Jack Wilshere boost ahead of Bournemouth clash

Tomas Rosicky’s serious injury setback has handed Arsene Wenger a blow ahead of Arsenal’s trip to Bournemouth this weekend.

Rosicky picked up a thigh injury in last weekend’s win over Burnley in the FA Cup and the 36-year-old’s chances of playing for Arsenal again appear slim.

Asked if Rosicky had played his last game for the Gunners, Arsene Wenger said: “I hope not but the injury is quite a serious one. He will not need surgery.”

Wenger has received better news elsewhere, with Danny Welbeck and Jack Wilshere among the Arsenal players closing in on a return. Wilshere revealed this week he had found it difficult to stay positive during his long spell on the sidelines.

He has been plagued by foot and ankle injuries and has only once played more than 25 leagues games in a season.

He broke a bone in his calf during pre-season but revealed this week his recovery is ‘going well’.

Arsenal are fourth in the league, five points behind league leaders Leicester City.

They have not won in the league in four games, however, making their trip to the south coast a crucial one.
