Crystal Palace vs Liverpool - as it happened: James Milner and Sadio Mane hand Reds victory on the road
Re-live all the action from Selhurst Park
Liverpool will look to confirm themselves as the early Premier League pacesetters when they visit Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace on Monday evening.
Last year’s Champions League finalists were big spenders once again in the transfer market and are consequently the favourite to challenge Manchester City for the title this season.
Their attack picked up where they left off from last season after a 4-0 hammering of West Ham at Anfield in their first game.
Crystal Palace meanwhile came away from a stiff first assignment with a 2-0 victory at Roy Hodgson’s former club Fulham.

It’s a big game for…
Benteke: The Belgian striker faces his former club on Monday but would have hoped to have been in better form coming into it. He scored just three times in 30 league appearances last season, and although he made his presence known to the Fulham defenders last weekend he will need to pose more of a goal threat and maintain his hold-up play if Palace are to contain Liverpool’s forward line.
Stat...
23: Currently level with Chris Armstrong on 23 goals, Wilfried Zaha needs one more goal to become Palace’s all-time top Premier League goalscorer
Remember when…
Dwight Gayle’s equaliser against Liverpool in May 2014 dealt what turned out to be a deadly blow to Liverpool’s title challenge that season. Leading 3-0 with just 15 minutes remaining, Liverpool believed they had done enough to keep up the pressure on Manchester City on points and goal difference. However, three goals in 11 minutes from Palace, including two from Dwight Gayle saw the Reds move just a point in front of City. The impact of the stalemate was compounded by City’s victory against Aston Villa two days later.
Player to watch…
Wayne Hennessey: The Welshman was in outstanding form against Fulham last weekend, making a total of six games to ensure the Cottagers’ return to the Premier League ended in defeat. With summer signing Vicente Guaita waiting in the wings only consistent performances will suffice, and with Liverpool’s attacking prowess in store on Monday night, the former Wolves keeper will be key if Palace are to get a result.

Prediction...
Crystal Palace 1-3 Liverpool: Palace will present problems but there's only so long any team can hold out against this Reds side and Salah and Co. will eventually be too much.
3 mins: And Salah breaks on the Palace defence on their next attack.
He runs at Sakho and takes him to the edge of the box before making space to shoot with his left foot but his effort is well blocked.
Liverpool settling.
8 mins: It's a cracking atmosphere at Selhurst Park, where they have kicked off in daylight - not many times that'll happen this year!
Zaha looks in the mood so far and has already produced some clever moments that suggest he's in the zone.
Meanwhile, Naby Keita continues to impress in the middle of midfield for Liverpool. Definitely one to watch - haven't spotted a weakness yet.
10 mins: Both teams are still trying to feel each other out, building their attacks slowly from the back but it's still exciting.
Surely some goals to follow.
12 mins: As I say this, Liverpool threaten down the left.
Neat interplay between Mane and Robertson sees the latter in his typical position near the left-byline but his cross is calmly swept up by Hennessey.
14 mins: Liverpool threaten down the left once again but this time it's Milner who finds himself stationed where Robertson was and his teasing ball is punched to safety by Hennessey.
Palace break and Gomez cleverly fells Zaha.
16 mins: Good pressure from Palace defenders stops Robertson in his tracks and forces him out of play.
Not much goalmouth action to report...yet.
18 mins: Mane and Wan-Bissaka engage in a sprinting battle but the young full-back is more than a match for his competitor and doesn't just stop him but wins a goal-kick too.
19 mins: Liverpool pressure forces Sakho into an error which gives the ball to Salah. He couldn't set his feet out though and the ball fell harmlessly back into Hennessey's grasp.
21 mins: Goal disallowed!
Alexander-Arnold's cross is met by the hands of Hennessey but Mane clatters into him and the ball rolls into the goal.
The free-kick is unsurprisingly given to the goalkeeper.
Probably the correct call.
23 mins: CHANCE!
Liverpool into their stride and that man Naby Keita is at the forefront of the move.
He turns Townsend on a sixpence and lifts a wonderful ball into the feet of Salah who is beyond the last line of defence and only has Hennessey to beat.
He lifts his dink too high though and the ball sails away from danger.
