Crystal Palace vs Liverpool - as it happened: James Milner and Sadio Mane hand Reds victory on the road
Re-live all the action from Selhurst Park
Liverpool will look to confirm themselves as the early Premier League pacesetters when they visit Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace on Monday evening.
Last year’s Champions League finalists were big spenders once again in the transfer market and are consequently the favourite to challenge Manchester City for the title this season.
Their attack picked up where they left off from last season after a 4-0 hammering of West Ham at Anfield in their first game.
Crystal Palace meanwhile came away from a stiff first assignment with a 2-0 victory at Roy Hodgson’s former club Fulham.

It’s a big game for…
Benteke: The Belgian striker faces his former club on Monday but would have hoped to have been in better form coming into it. He scored just three times in 30 league appearances last season, and although he made his presence known to the Fulham defenders last weekend he will need to pose more of a goal threat and maintain his hold-up play if Palace are to contain Liverpool’s forward line.
Stat...
23: Currently level with Chris Armstrong on 23 goals, Wilfried Zaha needs one more goal to become Palace’s all-time top Premier League goalscorer
Remember when…
Dwight Gayle’s equaliser against Liverpool in May 2014 dealt what turned out to be a deadly blow to Liverpool’s title challenge that season. Leading 3-0 with just 15 minutes remaining, Liverpool believed they had done enough to keep up the pressure on Manchester City on points and goal difference. However, three goals in 11 minutes from Palace, including two from Dwight Gayle saw the Reds move just a point in front of City. The impact of the stalemate was compounded by City’s victory against Aston Villa two days later.
Player to watch…
Wayne Hennessey: The Welshman was in outstanding form against Fulham last weekend, making a total of six games to ensure the Cottagers’ return to the Premier League ended in defeat. With summer signing Vicente Guaita waiting in the wings only consistent performances will suffice, and with Liverpool’s attacking prowess in store on Monday night, the former Wolves keeper will be key if Palace are to get a result.

Prediction...
Crystal Palace 1-3 Liverpool: Palace will present problems but there's only so long any team can hold out against this Reds side and Salah and Co. will eventually be too much.
24 mins: PALACE HIT THE BAR!
Townsend unleashes a 30-yard stinger which is curling and looks set for the top corner but it smashes against the bar.
Zaha volleys in a rebounded effort which goes for a corner.
Comes to nothing.
27 mins: CHANCE FOR LIVERPOOL!
Salah darts around the box but the ball falls to Keita who forces a good save out of Hennessey.
Their corner also comes to nothing.
30 mins: Schlupp lines up a long shot from the edge of the box and he unleashes.
Happily for the Liverpool defenders and goalkeeper, they watch the ball harmlessly drift wide.
They are producing their own moments though.
31 mins: Crunching tackle! Zaha looks to break but Joe Gomez shows he's no slouch and crashes into the Palace winger, but fairly I must add.
34 mins: CHANCE!
Salah manages to control it, seemingly with his face, and he just about keeps the ball in play and flicks it back towards the centre of the box.
And it was a good thing he did with the ball falling nicely at Robertson's feet but he slices his shot high and wide and not very handsomely.
Good chance gone.
37 mins: Just under 10 minutes to go in this first half and Palace will be very satisfied with their evening's shift so far.
They continue to probe, themselves.
39 mins: Fabulous play down the right from Wan-Bissaka as he beats Mane for pace and skill but his ball across the box is sadly not met by any of the attacking players.
They could have flooded the box with players there.
40 mins: Meanwhile, Liverpool go on the attack themselves to show that they're still here and the ball finds its way to Mane on the left hand side of the box.
He chooses not to put the ball into the box and instead goes for glory but his shot flies well over.
42 mins: Van Aanholt looks to have won the ball cleanly from Milner and Palace break...
But Michael Oliver goes back to the incident at the assistant's request and books the full-back.
Palace fans are less than impressed.
44 mins: PENALTY TO LIVERPOOL!
Sakho fells Salah and Milner to step up...
