23' - Chelsea are starting to turn the screw now. This time Cesc Fabregas finds Tiemoue Bakayoko in the box but the Frenchman's shot on the turn is well blocked by Angelo Ogbonna.
28' - Adrian makes a couple of good saves in the space a few seconds as he first tips N'Golo Kante's long-range effort around the post and then, from the resulting corner, keeps out Davide Zappacosta's driven low shot.
West Ham aren't exactly on the ropes here but Chelsea have been on top for the last 15 minutes and look far more threatening than they did at the start of the match.
33' - Davide Zappacosta picks out Alvaro Morata in the box with a good cross but the Spaniard can't quite direct his header on target and the ball goes behind for a goal-kick.
37' - Arthur Masuaku gets to the ball ahead of Davide Zappacosta in Chelsea's final third before driving forward and unleashing a poorly-struck shot, which dribbles well wide of Thibaut Courtois' far post.
43' - After a steady build-up of Chelsea pressure, West Ham have regrouped in the last five minutes or so.
45' - Two minutes of added time to come at the end of this opening period.
Half-time - West Ham 1-0 Chelsea
Referee Anthony Taylor brings the opening period to a close and West Ham lead at the break through Marko Arnautovic's lovely sixth-minute goal.
