Liverpool have been proactive in the summer transfer window, but cannot be ruled out of any further business on deadline day.

They remain interested in Manchester United forward Anthony Martial, and could yet look to raid their biggest rivals if he suddenly becomes available today. Despite making plenty of signings this summer already, Klopp has not yet replaced Philippe Coutinho and Martial may just be that man.

Christian Pulisic is also an option, with the Borussia Dortmund midfielder wanted at Anfield.

The Reds have already signed goalkeeper Alisson, Fabinho, Xherdan Shaqiri and Naby Keita – who finally sealed his move from RB Leipzig a year after agreeing it – but the Anfield door remains open for business. Lyon midfielder Nabil Fekir also remains on the radar, but Chelsea are also in the hunt and it’s far from given that he’ll leave the French side this summer.

Player departures remain a possibility too, with Divock Origi, Danny Ings and Sheyi Ojo looking for moves away.

Klopp had no problem with Can joining Juventus

Emre Can rejected a contract offer from Liverpool before joining Serie A champions Juventus on a free transfer this summer, a decision that Jurgen Klopp says he has "no problem" with.

The German international joined Liverpool in 2014 and made over 100 appearances for the Reds, and Klopp told the Liverpool Echo that the pair still have a good relationship.

“We always had and still have a good relationship,” Klopp said.

“I have no problem with a player leaving. The only problem I had for the club was that I wanted to get some money: 'Sign a new contract and then we'll sell you!' But that wasn't really realistic.

“There was never a problem between Emre and I. Emre is 24 now. Playing in another country can be a life target: 'I've spent four years in England, now I want to go somewhere else.' Why not? He's a top player and he's gone to a top club, it's all good.”

Can's future was only announced in June, after months of speculation, but Klopp says he knew about the midfielder's wishes to leave Anfield for a long time.

"We knew early enough that it was pretty likely he would leave and we were able to plan," Klopp said.

Bernard joins Merseyside

Everton have confirmed the signing of Bernard on a four-year deal.

Liverpool were once interested in the Brazilian international, but the 25-year-old has chosen Everton, who are also on the verge of completing moves for Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes from Barcelona.

The transfer window has shut

The transfer window has slammed shut, which makes me wonder why nobody never closes it nicely, and it's been a very good one for Liverpool.

The Reds spent a whopping £176m, including fees paid for Naby Keita. Arriving through the doors at Anfield are a four first team players that are going to make Liverpool very competitive this season.

Alisson, Fabinho and Naby Keita provide an excellent spine to the team, and Xherdan Shaqiri is ideal cover for the front three.

Surely you have to be happy with that window, right?

Late bit for Danny Ings?

Have they done it in time?

Southampton have made a late bid to sign Danny Ings, but it could be too late, according to reports. This one will definitely roll on.

Ings latest

Southampton have submitted a deal sheet to the Premier League and are requesting a two hour extension in an attempt to sign Danny Ings.

Southampton want to sign Ings on loan with a view to make the deal permanent.

According to the Premier League website, a deal sheet: "allows a club to confirm that a deal has been reached in order to allow for additional time to submit the remaining documentation.

"For a deadline of 17:00, the deal sheet cannot be used prior to 15:00 and needs to arrive fully completed before the transfer window closes.

"Once the sheet arrives, clubs have got until 19:00 in which to submit the full paperwork."

Ings is currently on his way to the south coast. Wow, this could be a close one!

Southampton get pay back

For all the jokes about Southampton being Liverpool's reserve team, it looks like the Saints might now actually be signing one of their players.

Dejan Lovren, Adam Lallana, Sadio Mane, Virgil Van Dijk and Rickie Lambert have all made the switch from the south coast to Merseyside, but now there is finally a player (potentially) heading in the other direction.
