Follow live coverage as Wolverhampton Wanderers face Brighton & Hove Albion today in the Premier League. Another top-flight season will be covered in full right here with The Independent, as reigning champions Liverpool look to fend off competition from Arsenal, Manchester City and more.

The race for the Champions League places should also be a compelling battle, with a fifth place possible for English teams. Manchester United’s latest rebuild under Ruben Amorim sets expectations high once more after a dismal season last time out.

Meanwhile, it’s Burnley, Leeds United and Sunderland who made it back to the elite after promotion last year and each will have hope they can make it more than a one-year stay. Follow the latest live action from the Premier League below:

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Brighton & Hove Albion

The final whistle goes here and both sides take home a point each, as Wolves and Brighton play out a 1-1 draw. It was a game that lacked in quality, with neither side impressing on the eye. Wolves took the lead after 21 minutes, when Verbruggen tipped Munetsi’s rocket volley onto the bar, but rebounding back off the Dutch goalkeeper and into the net. Strand Larsen came close to doubling Wolves’ lead with 15 minutes to go, when, after a mazy run, he tried a clever finish to beat Verbruggen at his near post. His effort hit the foot of the post in his last action of the game. Brighton were level through Van Hecke, after they took a quick corner-kick, leaving Wolves unset at the back, and finding Van Hecke in the box. His header gave Johnstone no chance in goal, and the sides were level. Neither side came close to scoring a late winner, with the game remaining at one-a-piece. Before the game, Brighton were Opta’s favourites to take home all three points, with the draw the least likely outcome. Brighton beat Wolves on xG, with the score being 1.15 xG compared to 0.56 xG in the Seagulls favour. Wolves, who are still winless, remain at the foot of the table. Brighton on the other hand sit in 12th. A trip to Sunderland is next up for Wolves, whereas Brighton host Newcastle. That’s all from me here. Have a good rest of your day and goodbye!
