This year sees Manchester City try to defend their crown and claim a historic fourth title in succession. Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering City, who also won the Champions League and FA Cup last season, will have to see off Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and the rest to claim an unprecedented sixth league title in seven years.
Meanwhile Luton Town are making their first appearance in the Premier League, having risen from non-league in an incredible decade of progress. They followed Championship winners Burnley and second-placed Sheffield United in earning promotion to the top flight.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United
West Ham United responded to their capitulation against Newcastle United last Saturday with a come-from-behind 1-1 draw against Tottenham. However, draws have been a constant for the Hammers, with six of those coming since the start of 2024. They have won just two of their last 12 league games this calendar year, and, like Wolves, are also winless in three games coming into this contest. A win today would take them level with Manchester United and allow a bit of breathing space over the teams just below them in the table, but winning has to start now. Goalkeeper Alphonse Areola misses out again due to a groin injury.
Wolverhampton Wanderers vs West Ham United
With eight games still to go this season, Wolves have already surpassed their points tally in the entirety of last season, which shows their progress. The Wanderers come into this game on the back of three winless games, including a draw against 19th-placed Burnley in midweek. However, they are still in contention for European qualification next season and a win would propel them to seventh place, overtaking today’s opponents, West Ham United. Gary O’Neil does not have the best record as a manager against David Moyes, but his side will look towards Matheus Cunha to provide another goal contribution.
