Round 11
The finish line is almost in sight for AJ. He's spoiling now, and he has every right to. It's part of the game.
Little action there, AJ skips back to his corner.
He's nearly there, the jab has never looked better.
Round 12
Joshua now lands a big right, Ruiz not answering yet.
Can AJ ram home the win with a stoppage?
No final surge from Ruiz, he begs him to come fight, AJ resists.
That's it!
That's it!
Ruiz begged AJ to fight at the end, which will probably be his excuse - AJ's lack of engagement.
But he did what he had to do. A clinic from AJ on the back foot and a jab rarely seen as good in his career to date, a new weapon moving forward it seems.
Joshua beats Ruiz (118-110, 118-110, 119-109) to recapture his world heavyweight titles
What a performance from Joshua, he's done it, comprehensively, too.
Joshua poses, arms folded, and reacts to his big win:
First of all, I want to thank god.
I want to say, the first fight was so nice, I had to do it twice.
This is about boxing, I'm used to knocking guys out, I realised I hurt the man and I got caught coming in. No excuses.
I wanted to put on a masterclass and show the sweet science of this sport, hitting and not getting hit.
Never a change in mentality, stay hungry, stay humble. I'm hungry, humble in defeat, and I'll remain humble in victory.
It's about preparation, when I release a book, I'll talk. Careers are about experience, I took a loss and came back, anybody can do it, life is a rollercoaster.
AJ is up for a trilogy:
Without a doubt, listen, if you heard, we're going to do it a third.
Ruiz blames his weight gain for the loss:
I gained too much weight. Let's do it for a third time. I'll be in the best shape of my life.
It affected me a lot, I thought I'd feel stronger.
I tried to train myself, I don't want to give excuses though. I couldn't put together my combinations.
Who wants to see the third fight?
