It proved to be an enjoyable day for Scotland, a nervy day for England, a proud yet disappointing day for France and a disastrous day for Ireland as the Six Nations kicked off yesterday. Firstly, all the talk of Scotland being able to beat Ireland actually paid off for once, as they recorded an impressive 27-22 victory at Murrayfield to make a winning start int he Six Nations for just the third time, ending Irish hopes of a Grand Slam in the process.

Following that, England needed a late try from replacement Ben Te'o to secure a narrow 19-6 victory over France, having trailed Les Blues with just 15 minutes to go. Both Ireland and France secured losing bonus points, meaning at least they are off the mark, while Scotland lead England in the table by a superior points difference of two.

Wales head into this afternoon's match as favourites, but they have lost twice in Rome in the past and will need to ensure they do a professional job against Conor O'Shea's side, who will look to feed off the fantastic atmosphere inside the Stadio Olimpico.

We'll bring you highlights from yesterday's matches, plus all the latest reaction before focusing on today's match from 13:00.

The rain is falling in Rome, and that might just see the two sides bring things in a bit tighter, despite the Welsh camp talking up their desire to play expansive, running rugby.

Here come the two teams, led by Sergio Parisse and Alun Wyn Jones, two stalwarts of the Six Nations over the years. Time for the anthems...

Great to see the Italian president, Sergio Mattarella, here to greet the players in true Michael D Higgins fashion. Given this is football territory, and it's his first ever rugby match, it can only be a good thing.

This is all taking a bit of time here, the anthems still haven't started...
