PENALTY! IRELAND 3-7 Argentina (Joey Carbery penalty, 6 minutes)

From bang in front, 35 metres out...

Over it goes. Ireland on the board.

Ireland 0-7 Argentina, 5 minutes

Better from Ireland. After a short Tomas Cubelli boxed clearance, the home side attack in a structured manner for the first time and challenge Argentina, who are forced to catch a carrier with a high tackle and also infringe at the breakdown. James Ryan points at the posts; Joey Carbery beckons for the tee...

TRY! Ireland 0-7 ARGENTINA (Mateo Carreras try, 3 minutes)

A scorching start from Argentina! Ireland are punctured through the middle by a good carry from Thomas Gallo, and the prop’s arms are free for an offload, Santiago Grondona providing good support.

The blindside puts it in the hands of Mateo Carreras, who produces a vicious right-foot step back to the inside and weaves between retreating Irish would-be tacklers.

The conversion is good - Argentina into an early lead.

Ireland 0-0 Argentina, 2 minutes

A free kick at the lineout and Argentina put something up into the Dublin crowds, which Lowe does well to take under a reasonable amount of pressure. Conor Murray clears long with his box kick but Argentina run it back to inside the Ireland half.

Ireland 0-0 Argentina, 1 minute

Ireland run Argentina’s first clearance back but Robbie Henshaw and Garry Ringrose mishandle on the switch, the outside centre knocking on.

Argentina then kick the advantage away into the Irish backfield and James Lowe has plenty of time to pick his spot and punt for the touchline. Argentina will throw a lineout on halfway.

LATE TEAM NEWS

Ahh - more Irish team news drama. Iain Henderson was conspicuous by his absence from the Ireland line singing the anthems and it appears the lock has been ruled out in the final moments before kick-off.

Tadhg Beirne starts with Nick Timoney now among the substitutes.

“The Soldier’s Song” and “Ireland’s Call"

Ireland, of course, get the chance to belt out two sets of lyrics, and do so with more understated emotion, though Peter O’Mahony and Tadhg Furlong bow their heads and close their eyes as they join their teammates in answering “Ireland’s Call”.

Robbie Henshaw is another with eyes closed as the camera pans across the centre’s face - this is his first appearance since the Lions series in South Africa. What dents can he make?

Argentine National Anthem

There are tears in the eyes of a number of the Argentina players as the first beats of the Argentine National Anthem play, Tomas Lavanini’s particularly moistened.

Out come the players

The two sets of players emerge from the Aviva Stadium tunnel, Ireland led by James Ryan, clutching a scrum cap in his left hand and roared on by the crowd. Peter O’Mahony makes more gentle passage onto the turf at the back of the line - a good chance for the veteran flanker having earned a late promotion to the starting side. The lineout battle could be intriguing against a lanky Argentina back five forward unit.
