IN A SURVEY of its readers carried out by the US magazine Travel & Leisure, Ireland was voted 'friendliest country' with 10 per cent, followed by Britain with 8 per cent. When asked: 'Which country has the rudest people?' surprisingly 7 per cent voted for the United States. Nine per cent chose Germany, but France proved that when it comes to rudeness nowhere comes close, landing first place with a massive 26 per cent of the vote.
